Job summary

CKC Automation LLC in Benicia, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and execution of custom automation equipment from concept through delivery. You will own system architecture, detailed design, build support, and customer acceptance for the projects you oversee.

You will also contribute to scope development, cost estimating, and proposal support to translate customer requirements into technically sound, deliverable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10+ years in custom automation or engineered-to-order equipment.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Strong understanding of machine design and mechanical systems.
• Experience with applications engineering, quoting, or estimating.
• Leadership and mentoring experience in engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with builds, debugging, and real-world issues.
• Background in robotics, motion control, pneumatics, or mechatronics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of custom automation equipment from concept through release.
• Define system architecture and strategy across projects.
• Perform advanced engineering calculations (stress, motion, tolerance, thermal).
• Ensure compliance with standards, safety, and manufacturability.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to engineers.
• Support proposal development, scope, and cost estimates.
• Own and deliver projects across full lifecycle.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, manufacturing, and project management.
