Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Middletown, RI to support torpedo test equipment hardware design and production activities. The role emphasizes leadership across projects, regular customer communication, and hands-on engagement as needed.

The position requires a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, PM and systems engineering experience, and the ability to obtain SECRET clearance. Travel to customer sites and Naval facilities may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. with 3+ years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET level clearance.
• Experience leading multiple projects to completion.
• In-person interactions with customers at Newport, RI Naval facilities and external sites.
• Experience with PM and/or Systems Engineering practices; familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple high-profile projects and define key test requirements with customers.
• Directly interface with suppliers/vendors and manage project documentation (AOAs, TDPs, schedules).
• Provide hands-on engagement when needed and communicate with customers, engineers, logisticians, and technicians.
• Oversee design and fabrication of components for electrical and mechanical test items and facility infra.
• Develop technical writing and documentation for TDPs and presentations.
