Wendel is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the Western New York region from Buffalo or Rochester, NY. This is a technical leadership role with engineer-of-record responsibilities, leading complex building systems work and shaping regional growth.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, leading HVAC and piping design, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and supporting business development.

Qualifikationen

• Consulting engineering background; able to balance technical quality, project delivery, team development, and client service.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience including air handling, HVAC, distribution systems, plumbing, and process piping.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, building codes, and mechanical codes.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.
• Professional Engineer license required; ability to obtain licensure in additional states as needed.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit (proficiency in a plus).
• Microsoft 365 proficiency.
• Ability to work independently while communicating proactively, collaborating across teams, and following through on commitments.

Aufgaben

• Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development, proposals, and project pursuits.
• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of HVAC, HVAC controls, chiller, boiler, hydronic, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, fire protection, ventilation/exhaust, and process piping systems.
• Serve as Project Manager and/or technical lead for multidisciplinary projects, with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, coordination, and client communication.
• Provide hands-on engineering production, technical direction, and problem-solving throughout design and construction.
• Mentor and develop mechanical engineering staff through coaching, delegation, design guidance, and on-the-job training.
• Lead and perform quality assurance and quality control reviews, ensuring drawings, calculations, specs are coordinated, complete, and code-compliant.
• Serve as Engineer of Record for appropriate projects, taking professional responsibility for the mechanical design and signed/sealed deliverables.
• Collaborate with leadership on workload planning, technical standards, quality processes, staffing, and resolution of complex issues.
• Coordinate with architecture, electrical, structural, energy, construction management, and other partners.
• Support construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFI responses, field observations, and issue resolution.
