Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, CA is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to design and validate advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You will run feasibility studies, perform tests, and guide teams through detailed design and fabrication workflows, shaping packaging and product performance.

You will contribute to Lam Platform new product development, collaborating across internal groups and suppliers to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient, and manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years experience or Master’s with 6+ years.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong presentation skills.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as CREO and Siemens NX.
• Hands-on experimental and design background with solid engineering skills.

Responsibilities

• Support full life cycle of mechanical/electro-mechanical systems from concept to productization.
• Design components using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics and coatings.
• Ensure documentation meets SEMI, Lam standards and GD&T.
• Conduct structural, FEA, thermal, and manufacturability analyses to specify designs.
• Develop feasibility studies and test plans to validate performance.
• Prepare reports and presentations to communicate design intent in reviews.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure manufacturability and cost optimization.
• Provide deliverables including FMEA, technical specs, risk analysis and test specs.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
