Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Orange, California. This hybrid role will design HVAC and plumbing systems for large federal, commercial and institutional facilities, and mentor junior engineers within the Building+Places group.

You will lead design efforts, participate in proposals, and ensure code compliance while coordinating with diverse clients and subcontractors on mid- to large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and Plumbing systems.
• U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract/security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems for large federal, commercial and institutional facilities.
• Perform Construction Administration: review shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders.
• Evaluate alternative design approaches with senior team members.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and equipment.
• Plan projects to meet quality controls, criteria, and budget.
• Assist in proposals and client presentations; mentor junior staff.
• Review and edit specifications; interact with clients and subcontractors.
• Serve as lead engineer on mid- to large-sized projects.
