Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Orange, California. This hybrid role involves leading mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing for large projects, working with a multi-disciplinary team, and mentoring junior engineers.

You will interpret building codes, make technical decisions, and support proposals and client interactions. The ideal candidate has strong design skills, experience with AutoCAD/Revit, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 6+ years of experience in mechanical design of HVAC and Plumbing systems.
• This position requires U.S. citizenship due to federal contract/security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, plumbing systems for large federal, commercial and institutional facilities.
• Perform Construction Administration including shop drawings, RFIs, change orders.
• Evaluate alternative design approaches with senior team members.
• Conduct site visits and condition assessments of existing equipment.
• Plan projects to meet quality, budget, and criteria.
• Assist in proposals and client presentations; mentor junior staff.
• Review and edit specifications; interface with clients and subs.
• Lead mid-to-large size projects as lead engineer.
