PMC Consulting Engineers in Nashville seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to join our team. The role involves developing HVAC and plumbing designs, coordinating with clients and design teams, and preparing energy models and specifications.

Qualifications

• Licensed/Registered Professional Engineer in a U.S. state.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques.
• Familiar with design standards and building codes.
• Five+ years of HVAC design/engineering experience.
• Plumbing and fire suppression design/engineering experience is desirable but not required.
• Self-performing and able to lead engineering tasks with minimal oversight.
• Positive, team-focused attitude toward clients and peers.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational/time management skills.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Participates in weekly staff meetings and assists with planning.
• Prepares HVAC, plumbing and fire suppression condition assessments and preliminary project descriptions.
• Coordinates with client, internal/external design team members, and project manager.
• Develops design concepts for HVAC systems and controls.
• Develops design concepts for plumbing and fire suppression systems and controls.
• Prepares energy models and load calculations for HVAC systems.
• Performs data collection and field verification.
• Selects equipment and materials to fit the project design.
• Authors HVAC project specifications in CSI MasterSpec format.
• Produces detailed HVAC, plumbing and fire suppression drawings and specifications.
• Ensures drawings/specifications meet company standards.
• Reviews shop drawings and product data.
• Attends Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings and calls.
• Coordinates design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Performs final punch-list site visits and generates reports.
• Participates in PMC University continuing education program as presenter and student.
