Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Tampa, FL is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and delivery of HVAC and building systems on mission-critical, healthcare, and commercial projects. You will work closely with leadership and clients to drive technical solutions.

Responsibilities include designing systems, preparing calculations, coordinating with electrical engineers and architects, and guiding junior engineers through design and construction phases.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of U.S. construction industry mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• EIT required; PE preferred.
• Experience designing HVAC and building mechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of codes, standards, and best practices.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Experience supporting projects through design, documentation, and construction phases.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, and mission-critical projects.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate designs with electrical engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders.
• Support project delivery from concept design through construction administration.
• Participate in client meetings, site visits, and project coordination activities.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
• Contributing to the successful delivery of multiple projects simultaneously.
