Job summary

IPS is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Blue Bell, PA headquarters or Somerset, NJ office. You will lead HVAC design for life sciences facilities, oversee projects, and contribute as a technical expert on complex systems.

Ideal candidates have 8–10 years of engineering experience, a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit. Travel up to 20% may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of Engineering/design experience in the building design industry (HVAC and utility generation).
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Expertise in AutoCAD/Revit.
• Thorough knowledge of Mechanical (HVAC) system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with software for performing load calculations and energy analysis.
• 2-4 years overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design of mechanical (HVAC) systems for life science facilities, including central plants and air handling systems.
• Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new mechanical systems and analyzes existing systems.
• Project lead on feasibility studies, ratings, basis of design and detailed design.
• Breaks down project scope with the PM to determine budget and staffing.
• Writes scopes of work and coordinates with clients and design teams.
• Reviews contractor payments and ensures construction adherence.
• Develops design standards and mentors staff.
