Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team on an on-site basis. You will lead the design of complex HVAC and plumbing systems for multiple building types, working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, designers, and planners.

You will mentor engineers, review construction documents, and deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs. The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and delivering robust documents for construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years' experience in consulting HVAC engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain licensure.
• Proficient in Revit MEP for mechanical design and coordination.
• Design complex HVAC systems (VAV, DOAS, VRF, data room cooling, rooftop, etc.).
• Advanced knowledge of heating/cooling loads, ventilation, and codes.
• Lead and collaborate with a team to produce construction documents.
• Proficient in writing mechanical specifications.
• Experience producing 3D BIM coordination models.
• HVAC load modeling with Trane Trace or Carrier HAP.
• Proficiency in MS Office 365, Bluebeam, and related HVAC software.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of HVAC design concepts, independently or with others.
• Conduct site assessments and building analysis to produce reports.
• Identify energy conservation measures, including costs.
• Provide quality control review of mechanical designs and give feedback.
• Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge, stamping docs.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters on construction documents.
