Job summary

Flowtec Group's Atlanta office is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and building systems design for mission-critical, life sciences, healthcare and commercial projects. You will own the full project lifecycle from concept through turnover and mentor junior engineers.

You will work with architects and contractors, perform load calculations, specify equipment, ensure code compliance, and manage scope, schedule and budget while building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (MSME a plus).
• 8+ years leading mechanical design in an MEP consulting environment.
• Experience across lab, healthcare, mission critical or high-performance buildings.
• AutoCAD, Revit and HVAC modelling tools - Trane Trace, Carrier HAP or similar.
• Strong client-facing and leadership ability, you’ll be in front of clients, not behind a screen.
• A PE is not required. If you hold one, great. If you’re working toward it, they’ll support the exam.
• Nice to have: 12+ years, mission critical exposure, LEED / WELL or energy modelling

Responsibilities

• Leading mechanical and HVAC design across mission critical, life sciences, healthcare and commercial projects
• Owning the full project lifecycle, concept, design, specification, construction administration, closeout
• Complex load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection and code analysis to ASHRAE, IMC, IECC and NFPA
• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, architects and contractors
• Managing scope, schedule, budget and staffing from kickoff through to turnover
• Leading coordination with the electrical, plumbing, fire protection and technology teams
• QA/QC review, and mentoring the engineers behind you
