Job summary

Allegion in Fontana, CA is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for Hollow Metal products. You will design, develop, and analyze new and improved doors and frames, enhancing robustness while reducing costs.

This onsite role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, vendors, and manufacturing to deliver high-quality solutions. The candidate should have 5+ years of engineering experience including 3+ years in new product development, and strong proficiency with FMEA, RCA, GD&T, Tolerance

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years engineering experience including at least 3 years in new product development.
• Proficiency with FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, Tolerance Stack Analysis, and DFM/DFA.
• Understanding Hollow Metal Doors & Frames manufacturing processes, including Sheet Metal Fabrication, Roll Forming & Press Brakes, Core Bonding & Pressing, Welding & Assembly, Hardware Preparation & Integration, Finishing & Paint Systems, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

Responsibilities

• Conceive, design, develop, and analyze new and improved products.
• Improve designs by reducing cost and increasing robustness and reliability.
• Communicate project status through reports, presentations, and design reviews.
• Ensure projects complete within time and cost targets with optimal trade-offs.
• Provide project leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing for component sourcing and assembly.
• Support product test development and execution.
• Collaborate with other Allegion Hollow Metal sites (Chino & Pico Rivera).
