Job summary

Saint Cyr Partners is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a hands-on role in a heavy industrial steel operation. You will troubleshoot and optimize complex mechanical systems, lead reliability programs, and manage capital projects from concept through commissioning.

You’ll work on melting equipment, baghouse and environmental systems, and collaborate with maintenance, operations, and external contractors to drive safety, uptime, and efficiency across the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in steel/heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with steelmaking/melting equipment, furnaces, or heavy industrial machinery is highly desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting and project-management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems across the plant.
• Lead reliability and continuous-improvement initiatives to boost uptime and efficiency.
• Support melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning.
• Provide engineering support for baghouse and environmental systems and regulatory compliance.
• Manage capital and facility-improvement projects from concept through installation and completion.
• Develop scopes, specs, bid packages, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Evaluate vendors/contractors, review proposals, and oversee external resources.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, and other teams to keep projects on track.
• Ensure adherence to budgets, safety requirements, and performance targets.
• Travel locally and internationally as needed for project support.
