The role combines hands-on plant floor troubleshooting with developing specifications, managing contractors, and leading major projects from concept to completion, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline required.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in heavy industrial environments such as steelmaking or metals.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and plant systems.
• Experience with large-scale capital projects, equipment installations, and contractor management.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems across the facility.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime and efficiency.
• Support melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Provide engineering expertise for baghouse and environmental systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and completion with detailed scope, specs, and schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers and contractors, review proposals, and oversee external resources.
