Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Infrastructure LLC is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for Ground Support Equipment in Merritt Island, FL. This role leads design, procurement, and testing of launch-site GSE, coordinating with engineers and management to meet performance and schedule goals.

You will develop cost estimates, manage vendors, lead design reviews, and establish acceptance criteria for hardware maintenance. Expect travel up to 25% and a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related engineering experience and strong CAD modeling capability.
• Experience in mechanical/electrical systems design and integration with production lines.
• Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage ground support equipment through development and build cycles for launch operations.
• Coordinate with launch operations to meet operational requirements and develop GSE accordingly.
• Develop specifications for performance, fabrication, testing, and maintenance.
• Manage external partners to ensure timelines and quality are met.
• Establish documentation for maintenance and proofload requirements.
• Perform hand calculations and finite element analysis to support design.
• Design CAD models using Siemens NX and Femap.
• Maintain equipment schedules, budgets, and status; drive improvements.
