Job summary

DLR Group in Overland Park, KS seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on gas and energy. Lead design of mechanical systems for energy projects, including gas piping for CHP, 5MW to 500+MW assets, and integrate with other disciplines using AutoCAD or Revit.

You will supervise mechanical designers, perform calculations, develop specifications, review drawings and ensure project schedules are met on diverse utility-scale and data-center clients.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• 10+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer including HVAC, central utility plants, plumbing, fire suppression, and gas piping.
• Strong communication and ability to coordinate with other disciplines.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other engineers and clients as part of our integrated design process.
• Create and coordinate documents using AutoCAD or Revit.
• Perform mechanical calculations including code research.
• Perform gas piping calculations including code research.
• Write and review specifications.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and submittals.
• Conduct site visits when needed.
• Manage mechanical project teams and/or interdisciplinary project teams.
