Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience; lead design, build and commissioning of custom systems.
• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, etc.).
• Experience managing complex assemblies with multiple contributors.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and guide complex design tasks.
• Strong initiative, fast-paced environment, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of primary and secondary mechanical fusion components and subsystems.
• Define prototyping requirements with core system teams.
• Create designs, drawings, specifications, and parameters with tolerances for vendor quoting and manufacturing.
• Design tooling for assembly.
• Perform thermal, structural, and electromagnetic analysis using Ansys and COMSOL.
• Incorporate design for manufacturing principles and support first builds.
• Support tooling and manufacturing implementation.
• Design and execute qualification testing.
• Track and report results against program goals and milestones.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers.
