Job summary

Pacific Fusion is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design, structural analysis, and hardware integration for our nuclear fusion demonstration system.

You will own components from concept through 3D CAD, FEA, and manufacturing handoff, working with physics, systems, and production teams to deliver robust, high-performance hardware for our ambitious energy program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of hands-on mechanical design and structural/thermal analysis.
• Proficiency in Creo or SolidWorks and FEA software.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques and DFM/DFA.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design and 3D CAD modeling.
• Perform hand calculations and advanced finite element analysis.
• Translate physics requirements into hardware specifications.
• Conduct tolerance analyses to meet interface requirements.
• Apply DFM and DFA to optimize performance, weight, and cost.
• Collaborate with physics, systems, and manufacturing teams.
• Prepare engineering documentation including GD&T drawings.
