Job summary

TAE Technologies in Southern California seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to coordinate the design and fabrication of high-value systems used in fusion research. You will apply advanced mechanical engineering knowledge to develop cutting-edge technologies and lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, physics, and operations.

The role requires a BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering with ~10 years of experience in large component design, plus the ability to adapt designs as research

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong background in large component design for technical industries.
• Experience in R&D environments and ability to adapt designs to new requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-value systems/sub-systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Physics and Operations to define requirements.
• Develop mechanical designs that meet requirements.
• Coordinate and organize design reviews.
• Contribute subject matter expertise to the team.
• Organize multidisciplinary project teams and estimate cost/schedule.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, design engineers and analysis staff.
• Write/review specifications and procedures.
• Source qualified manufacturers and oversee fabrication.
• Participate in installation and commissioning activities.
• Travel as needed.
