Job summary

Thea Energy in Kearny, NJ is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join an interdisciplinary team developing a scalable fusion energy platform. You will manage requirements, interfaces, and system integration for first-of-a-kind technologies in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of systems engineering experience across mechanical, electrical, and fluid domains with strong communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Experience with large industrial or first-of-a-kind R&D projects.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Safety-focused mindset and ability to wear many hats.

Responsibilities

• Develop system and interfacing requirements, protocols, and procedures.
• Work with engineering and physics teams to provide coordination and support.
• Convert functional requirements into scalable system architecture and execution plans.
• Assist in management of technical, schedule, cost, and performance analysis.
• Establish decision-making processes and improve verification/validation workflows.
• Manage system configuration control and the product breakdown structure.
• Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and internal manufacturing teams.
• Lead design reviews and program management functions.
• Implement HAZOPs and FMECA programs and risk assessments.
• Develop and run system design lifecycle management processes.
