Job summary

Divergent is hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to design, build, and deploy automation components for the Adaptive Production System (DAPS). This hands-on role emphasizes turning system requirements into practical mechanical designs and driving from concept through integration and release.

You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and operations teams to meet performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing mechanical components from concept to release.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, GD&T, and manufacturability.
• Hands-on prototype building and integration experience.
• Ability to collaborate across mechanical, electrical, controls and software teams.
• Willingness to work on-site and lift up to 25 lb.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and development from concept to deployment.
• Translate requirements into mechanical component interfaces and criteria.
• Develop mechanical designs for automation systems using CAD, GD&T, BOMs.
• Evaluate tradeoffs across performance, cost, reliability and schedule.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and vendors.
• Support designs through release, procurement, validation, deployment.
• Participate in design reviews and mentor others.
