Job summary

Divergent is seeking a Staff Automation & Controls Engineer to develop flexible robotic manufacturing and automation systems at the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS).

The ideal candidate will architect and deploy advanced automation, lead hands-on execution, mentor teams, and collaborate to meet tight schedules in a fast-paced start-up environment. This onsite role requires strong hardware, software, and safety experience. 100% onsite; minimal travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and deploying automated manufacturing systems.
• Proficient in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL508A standards.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA architectures for DAPS factories.
• Support automation software standards, frameworks and platforms.
• Mentor team members and uplift engineering practices.
• Architect new automated systems from design to commissioning.
• Develop controls for new processes in R&D settings.
• Translate production needs into module data and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet milestones on time and budget.
• Drive hands-on execution and resolve gridlock with leadership.
