Evolv Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III in Waltham, MA to own mechanical design from concept through validation and release. You will create robust electromechanical assemblies, work with cross-functional teams, and drive manufacturability and reliability across lifecycles.

The role emphasizes plastics injection molding, CAD development, and close collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design of electromechanical products.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD; PDM experience preferred.
• Understanding of plastic injection molding, sheet metal, and machined parts.
• DFM/DFx, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, materials selection, and process variation.
• Experience with Arena PDM or a similar PLM system.
• Experience working with suppliers and global contract manufacturers.
• Familiarity with structural, thermal, and vibration analysis (FEA).
• Experience with 3D printing for prototyping.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, documentation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical design and development for new and existing products, with emphasis on injection-molded plastic components.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD.
• Translate product requirements into mechanical design specifications and contribute to design reviews and technical decisions.
• Design precision electromechanical assemblies and enclosures, and manage the full product lifecycle from concept through tooling and sustainment.
• Apply design for manufacturability and design for reliability principles to improve performance and cost.
• Perform tolerance analysis, structural and thermal validation, and root-cause analysis on mechanical issues.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, firmware, industrial design, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing for cohesive system integration.
• Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers to improve manufacturability and yield.
• Support tooling, fixture, test-equipment design, prototype builds, factory validation, and design-transfer activities.
• Maintain CAD data, BOMs, engineering change orders, test plans, and other documentation using Arena PDM.
• Ensure compliance with Evolv quality-system and certification standards (UL/CE) and support DFMEA development.
• Research materials and processes; prototype creative solutions for performance and cost efficiency.
