Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as the technical lead for Fed-Florida Business Unit projects. The role focuses on mechanical and plumbing design, energy efficiency analysis, and coordination across disciplines, with responsibilities including construction administration and field support.

The position requires 8+ years of experience, a PE, and strong knowledge of ASHRAE/ASME/NFPA/NEC UFC codes, with CAD/Revit proficiency.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering degree required from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
• PE Certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
• Must have working knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NEC, UFC, and UFC codes; preference for FBC, IBC, IMC, IPC, AFMAN/SSMAN.

Responsibilities

• Perform project direct billable functions to maintain a personal utilization rate of 85%-90%.
• Ensure technical quality and design compliance with SOW, codes and standards.
• Oversee discipline-specific personnel and design execution.
• Perform engineering tasks such as site design, permitting, assessments, and construction management.
• Adhere to PMP and QC programs; may serve as Engineer of Record or Design Lead.
• Participate in Fed-Florida Quality Control and provide final approval of Mechanical work products.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure efficient scope integration.
