Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer for the Fed-Florida Business Unit. You will design mechanical systems, perform energy and thermal analyses, and coordinate with disciplines including fire protection and life safety. Travel up to 25% and security clearances may apply.

The role reports to the Director of Mechanical Engineering Design Operations and emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and project delivery on mixed facility types.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Up to five years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
• EIT certification preferred but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE/ASME/NFPA/NEC/UFC codes; familiarity with FBC/IBC/IMC/IPC.

Responsibilities

• Project Support: assist engineering teams from concept to testing and deliverables.
• Collaboration: build professional relationships with coworkers, customers, and partners.
• Documentation: maintain design specs, test plans, and progress reports.
• Communication: inform customers and teams in a timely manner.
• Innovation: foster new ideas and practical solutions for customer problems.
• Quality Control: participate in Fed-Florida QC program and adhere to standards.
• Operations: support director on mentoring and process improvements.
