Job summary

Qorvo in Newbury Park, California is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Defense & Aerospace SSPA product development team.

Lead mechanical design of ruggedized high-power RF amplifiers and subsystems; develop thermal management; perform thermal, shock and vibration analyses using ANSYS and Flotherm; create drawings and BOMs; mentor designers; participate in design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer of electronics subsystems, chassis/LRUs, circuit card assemblies, coax cabling, waveguides and discrete wiring harnesses.
• Mechanical design of electronics for aerospace and defense customers.
• Comfortable working as part of a cross functional engineering team with open interchange of ideas.
• Proven ability to work with limited supervision and meet commitments for technical, schedule and cost goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of ruggedized high-power RF amplifiers, subsystems, and chassis/LRUs for aerospace and defense applications.
• Execute product development plans to achieve technical, schedule, and cost objectives across new product development, product enhancements and sustaining engineering initiatives.
• Develop and implement thermal management solutions for forced-air and liquid-cooled electronic systems.
• Perform thermal, shock, and vibration analyses of circuit board assemblies, electronics chassis, and structural components using ANSYS and Flotherm.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, product documentation, bills of materials (BOMs) and conduct GD&T-based tolerance analyses.
• Lead and participate in peer, internal, and customer design reviews throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to designers and technicians as required.
