Job summary

TransGrid Energy seeks a Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineer to own data center cooling and mechanical design from concept to commissioning, including chilled-water, air cooling, and liquid-cooling systems. The role focuses on achieving high-density IT loads with energy and water efficiency while coordinating with Electrical, Controls, and Construction teams.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of experience in data center cooling, ASHRAE knowledge, and strong engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing mechanical and cooling systems for data centers or similar facilities.
• Experience with chilled-water, air cooling, and liquid-cooling systems.
• Strong understanding of high-density IT cooling requirements and thermal management.
• Knowledge of plant sizing, redundancy, PUE, WUE, piping, pumping and controls sequences.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE TC 9.9 and data center thermal-management practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related discipline; PE license preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Construction, Preconstruction, vendors, and other teams.
• Experience with direct-to-chip or immersion cooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical and cooling design for data center projects from concept through turnover.
• Design and evaluate chilled-water, air-cooled, and liquid-cooling systems (CRAH/CRAC, CDUs, immersion cooling...).
• Lead plant sizing, redundancy strategies, and system architecture for high-density loads.
• Develop and review piping, pumping, heat rejection, and distribution systems.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with Electrical, Controls, Construction, and Preconstruction teams.
• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and verify thermal performance during construction and startup.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
