Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a senior mechanical engineer to own multi-axis precision motion subsystem design. You will craft mechanisms, simulate kinematics, and generate detailed drawings for production. The role requires hands-on fabrication knowledge and strong GD&T discipline.

You will collaborate across controls and process teams to ensure robust integration of mechanical, thermal, and fluid interfaces while maintaining production readiness and mission readiness for aerospace hardware.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 5+ years in precision mechanical design.
• Experience designing multi-axis motion systems such as gantries, stages, or slides.
• Familiarity with linkages, actuators, latches, and kinematic assemblies.
• Strong CAD skills and GD&T knowledge for precise fabrication.
• Shop-floor fabrication knowledge and hands-on troubleshooting.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible for U.S. employment.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of multi-axis motion subsystems and feedback chains.
• Create 3-D models, drawings, and interface control documents with GD&T.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis on precision assemblies.
• Integrate mechanical interfaces with thermal and fluid subsystems.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, and process engineering.
• Document assembly, commissioning, and test procedures.
