Job summary

Garmin International seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our U.S. headquarters in the Kansas City area to lead mechanical design of audio systems for consumer products.

You will work with electrical, software, acoustics, and product teams to improve audio performance and develop design methodologies. You will apply CAD tools, manage complex components, and guide tests, validations, and supplier interactions while solving challenging environmental and usability problems across Garmin’s product

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Demonstrated knowledge and capability to use CAD software for completing complex mechanical designs
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of audio-related systems from concept through production
• Design complex mechanical components with focus on audio performance, reliability and manufacturability
• Lead investigations into microphone, speaker, acoustic, and environmental performance challenges
• Drive testing, data analysis, and root-cause investigations to characterize and improve system performance
• Collaborate with electrical, software, acoustics, and product teams throughout development
