  • Professional Engineering license is required.
  • California Energy Manager (CEM) is highly preferred.

  • Extensive design experience with chilled water central plants.
  • Knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI codes is a plus.
  • Independent decision making is required.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD MEP or Revit.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Codes and Energy Efficiency Standards.
  • Experience with energy efficiency, performance-based projects, or energy services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to write technical proposals and reports.
  • Strong customer presentation skills and a demonstrated sales aptitude.
  • Financial acumen, including cost modeling for sales proposals.
  • Experience in developing technical and cost proposals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Capable of making autonomous decisions based on experience and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering scope of work, recommend equipment selections, and handle pre-construction activities.
  • Design central chiller plants, package units, split systems, air handling units, and other mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare preliminary (redline) design layouts for estimating.
  • Ensure the quality of work produced by third‑party engineering consultants.
  • Participate in conceptual design for specific projects.
  • Inspect sites to verify equipment selection.
  • Perform loads calculations, equipment sizing, pipe and duct sizing, and friction loss calculations.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers throughout design and construction.
  • Conduct heating, cooling load calculations and Title 24 compliance calculations.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations.
  • Assist in developing, writing, and reviewing client proposal documents, including financial and technical sections.
  • Interact professionally with other departments.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to growth and development.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as directed.

Job Summary

The position will provide engineering support for design-build projects and work with Project Managers and Sales Professionals to review and recommend engineered HVAC solutions and designs, coordinate and quality check outsourced engineering resources, determine and process utility incentives, prepare permit documents for small mechanical projects, determine load calculations, and perform other engineering duties.

  • Inspect sites to verify equipment selection.

Benefits and Compensation

Compensation range: $136,000 – $160,000 per year.
