Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Kansas City, MO office to join a team-focused local office within a large global firm. You will contribute to design, analysis, and coordination of HVACR, hydronic, and plumbing systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects.

Responsibilities include developing construction plans, performing load calculations, preparing technical reports, and guiding junior engineers while maintaining QA/QC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) required.
• 5–7 years of post-education engineering experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, Trane Trace.
• Knowledge of building HVACR systems, infrastructure, and construction management.
• Ability to lead projects and guide junior team members while maintaining QA/QC.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for design, development, and inspection of mechanical systems on infrastructure, buildings, and construction projects.
• Develop construction and installation plans, load calculations, and documentation.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
• Coordinate with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients to update infrastructure layout plans.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and ensure adherence to standards and safety policies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards, and permits.
