Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Chicago to lead design of mechanical systems for buildings across sectors such as Higher Education, Culture & Performing Arts, Healthcare, and more.

You will manage mechanical project teams, produce detailed Revit drawings, perform code-based calculations, and coordinate with architects and other engineers to deliver integrated building designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 3–7+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer with HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression design.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Revit and building design processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of mechanical building systems for diverse sectors and produce construction documents in Revit.
• Manage Mechanical Designers and project teams to meet schedules and deliverables.
• Coordinate with architects and other engineers during the integrated design process.
• Perform HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection calculations including code research.
• Write and review specifications, review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
• Conduct site visits as needed and oversee project team coordination.
