Job summary

HDR is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on producing design drawings, calculations and specifications at a high level, while mentoring the mechanical team and ensuring quality across a multidiscipline staff.

You will collaborate with BES leadership, engage in marketing and project planning, and build strong client relationships with HDR leadership. A PE license is preferred for this senior role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings.
• Professional Engineer license recognized by the licensing board.

Responsibilities

• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design and production meetings for mechanical systems.
• Assume the mechanical lead on projects.
• Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload through the project development to meet schedules.
• Track the financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work to stay within schedule.
• Collaborate with Project Manager, Regional Controller and Regional Director for project reviews.
• Perform other duties as needed.
