Job summary

10x Genomics is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3, Consumables Sustaining to join the Manufacturing Systems Engineering (MSE) team in Pleasanton, CA. This role focuses on sustainment and technical stewardship of on-market consumables, collaborating with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D to resolve issues and implement improvements.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years (BS) or 4+ years (MS) in mechanical design or sustaining engineering.
• Experience with biotech consumables or life sciences equipment.
• Knowledge of thermoplastics (COC, COP, PC, PP) and elastomers.
• Strong GD&T and dimensional stack-ups.
• Experience with quality tools: FMEA, Gage R&R, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Cross-functional design transfer of new consumable components.
• Serve as mechanical contact for on-market sustaining issues.
• Lead root cause investigations using FEA and tolerance analysis.
• Drive ECOs/ECRs and support CAPAs and QC methods.
