Job summary

10x Genomics Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 for the Consumables Sustaining team in Pleasanton. You will support design, transfer and on‑market issues across operations, R&D, and quality, enabling robust, scalable consumables.

The role emphasizes root-cause investigations, design changes, and collaboration to improve yield and reliability, with involvement in ECOs/ECRs and cross‑functional projects.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 4–6 years with MS or 6+ with BS in mechanical design or sustaining engineering; 3+ years in biotech consumables.
• Experience with thermoplastic resins (COC, COP, PC, PP) and elastomers (TPE/TPU).
• Strong 3D CAD design, GD&T per ASME Y14.5, stack‑ups and inspection.
• FMEA, risk management, Gage R&R familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross‑functionally to design, develop and transfer new consumable components.
• Serve as mechanical contact for on‑market sustaining issues and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Lead/participate in root cause investigations using FEA, tolerance analysis and failure analysis.
• Support ECOs/ECRs, CAPAs and QC method development and deployment.
• Identify yield, reliability and quality improvements for on‑market consumables.
