Job summary

DoorDash is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to own the end-to-end battery system integration for our robotic platform. The role combines packaging, mounting, thermal management, and safety features with cross-functional collaboration across electrical, firmware, and systems teams.

You will lead mechanical design from concept to production, perform tolerance analysis, support prototypes and tests, and drive robust, manufacturable solutions with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience developing complex mechanical systems from concept through production.
• Demonstrated experience integrating lithium-ion battery systems into production products.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical integration of the battery system from concept through production.
• Design robust battery mounting structures, enclosures, retention features, and interfaces for a mobile robotic platform.
• Develop packaging solutions balancing structural performance, serviceability, manufacturability, weight, and cost.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and systems engineers for seamless integration.
• Design and release mechanical components using CAD and best practices.
• Perform tolerance analysis and interface definitions for battery hardware.
• Support prototypes, design reviews, testing, and validation campaigns.
• Drive designs through validation to production with high quality and reliability.
