Job summary

DoorDash USA is seeking a highly experienced Battery Engineer to own the complete battery system architecture for our robotic platform. You will design battery systems from cell selection through full pack integration, covering electrical configuration, mechanical packaging, thermal management, charging strategy, range calculations, and safety mitigation.

This role is critical to robot performance and lifecycle cost.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in EE, ME, or materials science or related field.
• 7+ years designing lithium-ion battery packs or high-performance systems.
• Strong expertise in battery packaging and mechanical integration.
• Experience with cell selection, series/parallel configuration, and BMS.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (Solidworks / Siemens NX) and battery modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end battery system design for the robot platform.
• Define system requirements for energy density, power, safety, and environmental constraints.
• Lead cell selection and supplier evaluation.
• Define and optimize series/parallel configurations.
• Develop validation plans and testing for battery systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, robotics, and manufacturing teams.
• Drive safety architecture and propagation mitigation.
