Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a highly experienced Battery Engineer to own the complete battery system architecture for our robotic platform. You will manage design from cell selection through full pack integration, including electrical configuration, mechanical packaging, thermal management, charging strategy, range calculations, and safety/propagation mitigation.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years designing lithium-ion battery packs or high-performance battery systems.
• Experience taking battery systems from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end battery system design for the robot platform.
• Define system requirements including energy density, power, lifecycle, safety.
• Lead cell selection and supplier evaluation.
• Define and optimize series/parallel configurations.
• Develop battery system specs and validation plans.
• Design mechanical packaging for robotic environments.
• Model and validate thermal behavior; design cooling strategies.
• Define charging architecture and BMS integration.
• Mitigate propagation risks and conduct FMEA/DFMEA.
