Job summary

Aptiv PLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the North America Product Engineering Team within the Connection Systems business unit. You will design, develop and validate mechanical aspects of electronic products supporting USB-PD, HDMI, Qi charging, NFC, LED lighting and other automotive-grade technologies.

You will work with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, create MCAD models, perform DFMEA, tolerances, and support DV/PV, while mentoring peers and ensuring manufacturability across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field, or equivalent with extensive experience.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience and ability to demonstrate capabilities.
• Familiarity with GD&T, PPAP, DFMEA and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Experience with MCAD software to develop multi-component mechanical designs.
• Knowledge of automotive thermal, environmental, structural and appearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and validate mechanical aspects of electronic products for automotive applications.
• Collaborate with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to meet functional and mechanical requirements.
• Create MCAD models, drawings and change documentation; perform peer reviews.
• Conduct simulations, worst-case analyses, benchmarking and cost tradeoffs.
• Support DV/PV activities and assist in design validation and manufacturing readiness.
