Job summary

1st St NW Technical Staffing is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a direct-hire position in Minnesota. The role emphasizes design of electro-mechanical components, robust CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and close collaboration with electrical, manufacturing and quality teams.

The candidate should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 6+ years of mechanical design experience, with SolidWorks proficiency and GD&T knowledge. Prior experience with motion control components is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent.
• Strong 3D CAD skills and experience with SolidWorks preferred.
• Familiarity with GD&T symbols and tolerance analysis.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in design, manufacturing and quality.
• Proficiency with FEA tools or simulation software is a plus.
• Experience designing components, not full machine systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electro-mechanical components for automated machines.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, and engineering docs.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, material selections, and engineering analyses.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and design validation.
• Collaborate with electrical, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate designs.
• Participate in supplier discussions and review feasibility and production readiness of components.
