Job summary

TruNorth Automation in Minnesota seeks a Senior Design Engineer to lead development of large-scale automated machinery from concept to integration. You will guide a small design team, mentor engineers, and advocate best practices, ensuring projects meet schedule and quality objectives.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, 6+ years in automation equipment design, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in automation equipment design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading small design teams.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop large sized custom automation machines independently
• Provide leadership to a team-design effort, guiding a small team of designers through projects of all sizes and complexities
• Mentor lower-level engineers and help develop the design skills of other engineers in the company
• Assist in the continuous improvement of best modeling practices, project organization, standardization and machine design
• Communicate independently with customers in a professional and effective way. Have the skillset to convince customer team of project direction and design choices
• Demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver projects that meet both timeline & quality objectives
• Provide leadership within the organization and entire design group
