Job summary

ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of automation cells and retrofits. You will develop 3D models, create 2D drawings, and prepare BOMs for production orders, acting as technical lead for the ME team and ensuring adherence to ENGEL standards.

You will collaborate across engineering and production, mentor junior engineers, and support project bidding with labor and material estimates.

Qualifications

• Create mechanical designs, 2D drawings and 3D models for automation cells, retrofits and reconfigurations.
• Construct bill of materials for robots and auxiliary equipment.
• Provide general mechanical engineering support for field work.
• Act as technical lead for mechanical engineering team and oversee ME standards, quality of design and deliverables.
• Assist with project quoting by providing mechanical labor and material estimates.

Responsibilities

• 3D modeling of custom automation equipment including robotic end-effectors and material handling.
• Modify and adapt existing library components for use on new projects.
• Create mechanical designs that meet industry safety standards.
• Develop 2D drawings for automated production cells, auxiliary equipment, parts, and SAP material processing.
• Prepare complete bill of materials for production orders and maintain BOM for delivered equipment.
• Submit items for procurement and generate specifications to ENGEL standards.
• Participate in project kick-off, design reviews, FAT, training, and other meetings.
• Create spare parts lists, layouts, wear items, and other documentation.
• Provide technical support to team members and assist cross-functional documentation.
• Assist with project quoting with labor and material estimates.
• Assist internal Production Assembly with pre-assembly of new builds and retrofits.
• Support cross functional team with proper documentation.
