Job summary

Leidos in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development, fabrication, integration, and test of advanced hardware for DoD programs. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to take designs from concept through deployment.

The role requires hands-on collaboration with machinists, fabricators, and vendors, plus strong 3D CAD modeling in SolidWorks, tolerance analysis, and build readiness.

Qualifications

• BSME with 8+ years of relevant experience or MSME with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Experience developing mechanical hardware from concept through design, fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, including 3D part/assembly modeling and engineering drawings; experience with PDMWorks.
• Applied mechanical design principles, material selection, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D solid models and detailed mechanical designs from concept to fabrication and testing.
• Perform engineering analysis to support design decisions and verify performance.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
• Design hardware for manufacturability, material selection, machining, welding, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with machinists, fabricators, technicians, and vendors to develop and support fabrication.
• Support hands-on assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of prototype hardware.
