Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for AI Satellites (Starmind) to own the hardware from concept to on-orbit operation. You will drive system-level optimization, establish design criteria, and iterate rapidly to inform trades and guide production.

You will design for extreme volume, reduce part counts, and work with partner teams to build an efficient in-house production line, delivering high-performance, reliable space hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages required.
• 5+ years ofMechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high-volume production and on-orbit operation for the Starmind constellation.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Rapidly iterate on designs and analyses to inform system trades and direction.
• Design for high volume with DFM, reducing part and process counts, and ensuring quality and performance.
