Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to own the design of mechanical systems across the product lifecycle for aerospace platforms. You will work hands-on in CAD, analysis, and testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, mission-ready hardware.

You will contribute to avionics packaging, harnessing, and structures, while applying GD&T and engineering calculations to validate designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-6 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in aerospace or ruggedized hardware.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software with detailed drawings and GD&T documentation.
• Strong foundation in structural design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience performing engineering calculations (stress, thermal, tolerance stack-up, FEA).

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and integrate mechanical systems and subsystems in aerospace hardware.
• Own mechanical engineering deliverables across the product lifecycle from concept to field support.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure buildable and reliable designs.
• Provide hands-on technical support during testing, demos, and field operations; troubleshoot and implement fixes.
