Job summary

Atrium is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace/Defense) to join our Engineering Design team to develop mission-critical hardware from concept through release. You will lead mechanical design efforts, support NPI and sustaining engineering, and partner cross-functionally to deliver reliable, manufacturable products.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in mechanical design, proficiency in SolidWorks, and experience with DFMEA, simulation tools, and transitioning designs to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 4+ years of mechanical design experience.
• U.S. Person requirement due to controlled data and defense compliance regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and detailed mechanical design aligned with aerospace/defense requirements.
• Support NPI and sustaining engineering initiatives.
• Conduct DFMEA and failure analysis; implement design improvements to reduce risk and improve reliability.
• Develop renderings, simulation models, and effort estimates for proposals and new business.
• Refine engineering processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve system-level objectives.
• Independently own projects and drive execution through completion.
• Participate in customer design reviews and qualification tests (up to 10% travel).
