Job summary

Divergent seeks a Senior/Staff Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design and deployment of automation systems underpinning Adaptive Production Systems (DAPS). You will translate manufacturing and operational needs into robust mechanical designs, evaluate tradeoffs, and drive complex systems from concept through production.

This hands‑on role requires strong expertise in machine design, manufacturing methods, motion systems, and structures, with a fast‑moving, autonomous work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven track record delivering complex mechanical systems from concept to deployment.
• Hands‑on prototyping, testing, and iteration of mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design and development of significant automation systems from concept to deployment.
• Translate needs into system requirements, interfaces, and acceptance criteria across teams.
• Develop mechanical architectures using CAD, drawings, GD&T, and BOMs, ensuring manufacturability.
• Evaluate tradeoffs across performance, reliability, safety, cost, and schedule.
• Lead cross‑functional technical work and mentor other engineers.
