Job summary

Divergent is hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to advance our Adaptive Production System (DAPS) on the Factory Automation team in the U.S. This hands-on role spans concept through deployment, translating requirements into robust mechanical designs and participating in tests and integration.

You will collaborate with software, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to scale flexible, high‑reliability automation hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated experience designing mechanical components and subsystems from concept through design, build, test, and release.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD, drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturability/assembly.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and development from concept to deployment.
• Translate system requirements into mechanical component specs and interfaces.
• Develop solutions balancing cost, schedule, manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
• Create CAD models, drawings, GD&T, BOMs to meet system requirements.
• Apply fundamentals across structures, motion, fluids, thermal, and enclosures.
• Identify risks and support prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and iteration.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and suppliers.
