Job Description

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for one of our Florida offices, including Orlando, FL, Miami, FL, Sunrise, FL, or Tampa, FL. This role will participate in the full project cycle, focusing on complex sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, labs, and commercial high-rise projects, from design through construction close-out. Engineers work on high-profile, national and international projects, providing design services for over 30 million square feet of medical facilities.

Your Impact

  • Lead and manage mechanical design on multiple projects
  • Interface with clients, attend meetings, and represent the team
  • Participate in the full project cycle from design to close-out
  • Provide technical expertise in mechanical systems, including air distribution, hydronic systems, and load calculations
  • Oversee construction administration, project management, and quality control
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project budgets
  • Monitor project schedules and scope changes
  • Ensure project profitability
  • Assist in equipment selection and scheduling
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Comply with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience and mechanical design background
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Experience with building projects from design through construction
  • Experience designing HVAC and temperature control systems
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary skills
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance
  • Flexibility for project-specific schedules and occasional travel
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare and labs sectors
  • Active participation in professional organizations
  • Experience with AHCA and managing small to mid-size projects
  • Professional licensure/certification
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and First Aid/CPR training preferred
