Job summary

Cummings Aerospace in Arlington, VA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (full-time, exempt) to develop mechanical designs and drawings, perform structural analyses, and support integration for aerospace systems. The role reports to the Program Manager and collaborates across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Must hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years in aerospace, be proficient in SolidWorks or CREO, and experienced with SRR, PDR, CDR design reviews.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with complex aerospace systems.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, CREO or other CAD software.
  • Experience with formal design reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs and/or drawings to support hardware development life cycle based on system requirements.
  • Collaborate with the program engineering team or customer to develop mechanical system requirements.
  • Perform structural analysis of mechanical designs to validate system performance requirements.
  • Develop presentation materials of design solutions and trade studies for design reviews.
  • Interface with engineering and manufacturing teams on hardware development.
  • Prepare engineering products to meet customer requirements.
  • Support program meetings and reviews as required.

Job description

Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible to develop mechanical designs and/or drawings, performing structural analysis, and support manufacturing and hardware integration for a broad range of aerospace systems. The individual will report to the Program Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical designs and/or drawings to support the hardware development life cycle based on system requirements
  • Collaborate with the program engineering team or customer to develop mechanical system requirements
  • Perform structural analysis of mechanical designs to validate system performance requirements
  • Develop presentation materials of design solutions, methodologies, trade studies, etc., for design reviews
  • Interface with the engineering and manufacturing team on the development of hardware solutions
  • Produce engineering products in support of customer requirements.
  • Support program meetings and reviews as required.
  • Support other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with complex aerospace systems required.
  • Highly proficient with SolidWorks, CREO or other CAD software.
  • Experience with formal design reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR
  • Demonstrated experience and an ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and with other engineers collaboratively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Clearance
  • Secret Clearance Required. Top Secret clearance Preferred.
